sparc-sun-sol2.5.1, g77 config error for gcc-3.3.1

I'm having problems configuring g77 as part of the gcc-3.3.1 build
process on Solaris 2.5.1 using:

Is there anything I can do in this situation. I'm installing the
latest Gnu Awk, sed, and currently downloading the new binutils in
the hope that this might help....
