GCC Installation Error

Subject: GCC Installation Error

We're attempting to install GCC 3.3.1 on a SPARC Solaris 2.9 server; when we run the configure script, we get the following output:

Configuring for a sparc-sun-solaris2.9 host.
Created "Makefile" in /usr/share/src/gcc-3.3.1 using "mh-frag"
gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `cpp0': No such file or directory
*** The command 'gcc -o conftest    conftest.c' failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.

Any ideas what is happening?
