Compiling/Installing 3.0.3 on Tru64 5.1

I am having problems compiling gcc on my Tru64 5.1 pk3 system, I tried a
a simple make and I get the ASM_??? error, checked the mail archives and it
indicates
I should do a make bootstrap, it stops also with the following :
ln: ./valarray_meta.h and
/tmp_mnt/usr/local/src/gcc-3.0.3/alphaev6-dec-osf5.1/l
ibstdc++-v3/include/bits/valarray_meta.h are identical.

Stop.

Stop.
*** Exit 1
Stop.
*** Exit 1
Stop.
*** Exit 1
Stop.
Anybody else have this problem
