- Subject: which as/ld on Solaris ?
I have "successfully" built binutils, gcc-2.95.3 and gcc-3.0.4
on Solaris 2.8. However, I'm wondering if I should have bothered
with the binutils.
gcc-3.0.4 is doing everything it can to use the stuff out of
/usr/ccs/bin (where the native assembler and linker live) instead of
/usr/local/bin. This is despite giving configure the --with-gnu...
flags and not even having /usr/ccs/bin on my path.
During creation of gcc-3.0.4 *and* now while compiling my files,
I have to rename the /usr/ccs directory for gcc-3.0.4 to
"settle" for the tools on the path.
Is this a bug ? Is it intentional ? (in which case I probably
shouldn't even bother with binutils, right ?)
