Sorry, but I didn't understand what's happening.
You mean that bash tries to execute /usr/local/bin/gcc inestead of
/usr/bin/gcc even if the former doesn't exist ?
What happen whan you try to run gcc - can you mail me the bash output of
gcc -v ?
