  Check out the headers of any of the mail messages you receive from the
list: you'll see something like this:

List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:gcc-help-unsubscribe-name=host.domain@gcc.gnu.org>
List-Post: <mailto:gcc-help@gcc.gnu.org>
List-Help: <mailto:gcc-help-help@gcc.gnu.org>

  Send a blank message to the unsubscribe address (the actual one will
have your email address in it; the one above is just an example).  I'm
pretty sure you could subscribe by sending a blank message to the address
<mailto:gcc-help-subscribe@gcc.gnu.org>

  The list help file will tell you that (I believe the answer is no; 
otherwise anyone could unsubscribe you against your will; so you can only
unsub an address by sending mail from that address).  Send a blank mail
to the List-Help address.
