Cross Compilers - No idea what I'm doing.

All,

First:
1) I am lost in unix.
2) I need to create a program to run on all flavors of web servers.

Here's where I'm at:
1) I have a FreeBSB 3.1 box
2) I down loaded gcc 2.95.2
3) I have the source code written.

Questions:
1) Should I just give up and get drunk?
2) If I get drunk, are there any companies who offer cross platform
compiling and linking?
3) Is there a way to create multiple cross compilers with this version
of gcc and if so are there any good instructions I can follow? <grin>
4) Do I need cross assemblers and linkers?
5) Do I need any other files/libs that do not come with gcc for each
platform?
6) What are the major systems for web servers?

Guess I want it all - TIA

-Ben the baffled
