I don't want to be argumentative (which is why I'm leaving this as "resolved"),
but I really don't think this should be considered a duplicate of 21766.
Yes, bug 21766 is what happened to trigger the problems I report. However, it
seems to me that there is ALSO a fairly clear problem with the makefiles, such
that any OTHER interruption in the build process at the point where bug 21766
happens to presently interrupt it (on my system) would ALSO cause "make
bootstrap-lean" to become permanently stuck.
(On the other hand, perhaps I'm asking too much of the makefiles, and this is
the sort of thing after which one ought expect to have to run a cleanup, and the
fact that "make bootstrap-lean" gets stuck and doesn't know what to do is not
really a bug at all.)
