I couldn't reproduce this with gcj 3.1 (from CVS).
However, I could reproduce it with gcj 3.0.
I don't think this is important enough for us to fix
on the 3.0 branch (the branch is limited to critical
bug fixes, new host ports, and regressions, as I
understand it). So I am closing the PR.
