I too have been bitten by this problem. I'd been running
binutils-2.10 (the latest release I believe). I then upgraded to a
CVS snapshot (2.10.90) and the problem went away for a while but came
back a couple of gcc snapshots ago. Other than me inadvertently
messing up the binutils install, it may have returned because I
stopping using -malign-double (which was probably used to make
binutils).
In any event, reinstalling a current snapshot (2.10.91) fixed the
problem.
Does a list of minimal versions for various things exist? If not, it
should.
