IMnsHO, this would just paper over the bug.
I see no reason why I should disable NLS explicitly or install gettext
on a SuSE box (with nearly default installation). This is not necessary
on FreeBSD nor Solaris and if NLS has to disabled, this should be done
automatically at configure time.
As far as I understood Philipp, he agrees that there is a real bug, and
in fact he fixed a similiar bug a couple of weeks ago.
