Yes, the favoured platform for Checker is Solaris/SPARC. I fed a bunch
of patches back to Tristan a couple of months ago which allowed it to
build on Linux2.2.x/x86.
I do not know whether these have made it into the CVS. You can check
yourself:
CVSROOT=:pserver:anoncvs@anoncvs.gnu.org:/gd/gnu/anoncvsroot
no password.

As far as I know there isn't a checker mailing list -
mailto:bug-checker@gnu.org seems to go straight to the maintainer,
Tristan Gingold. Tristan's been pretty quiet lately - I suspect he's
busy or on leave.
