Thanks.  I will take a look at it this weekend.  If it looks
reasonable I'll apply it to the Debian tree.  I'll also try to
get around to checking in my changes to the GNU upstream CVS (Hi
Tristan!), which I should have done a long time ago, but I've
been busy...
