Gentlemen and/or Ladies;
I note that you haven't any access to a bleeding edge (I use the term
advisedly) HP system.
I have a brand-spankin' new HP 9000 model N4000 with an unlimited-user
license. Unfortunately, I obliterated my budget buying the damn thing, and I
didn't realize I'd have to buy an ANSI C development environment in order to
get a functional C compiler. The so-called "bundled" C compiler used for the
kernel compiles is a total piece of crap.
Currently only myself and my closest co-workers have access to the box. I
personally also have access to the corporate firewall's configuration.... and
thus I can sneak you in if you're willing to work nights (nights EST - if you're in
Australia that's normal working hours). No need for the suits to know!
Would it be any benefit to your project to get telnet or dial-in access to my
system? It would obviously benefit me to have a working gcc installed by the
ubergurus, and I'm sure there are others out there who'd like to get a binary
depot!
I have the gcc binaries from Nov. 1 loaded, but there are problems with the
HP header files and compiling samba, for example, generates an astounding
number of non-fatal errors. Ncurses does not compile at all.
Let me know ASAP if you want in, because I don't know how long I can keep
this machine out of production without hosing the company.
