Thanks for your bug report. This is a known bug, though.

This seems to be a bug in the FAQ. See
http://sourceware.cygnus.com/libstdc++/17_intro/RELEASE-NOTES
which says
>> You must have a recent snapshot release of Egcs built, and massaged
