Yep, that's too much for one member function :-)

Nope, I hadn't even looked at the code when I wrote that.  I was just
pointing out that repeatedly re-compiling the same files is not a
problem in itself, as long as it's making progress.  But it seems
that, in your case, it wasn't :-(
