I hate to mention it, without looking at the docs to see what options refer to
treatment of backslashes, but that doesn't look like legal Fortran code
according to any past or present standard. The nH notation was specifically
obsoleted at Fortran 77, and backslash wasn't in the f66 supported character
set. Are you telling us it works differently with g77 according to the OS you
run on?
