Thanks for your report.  This is fixed in the latest egcs snapshot.
Given the following code snippet:

#include <cstddef>
int& foo() { return *NULL; }

it says:

test.cc: In function `int & foo()':
test.cc:2: argument of type `{unknown type} *' does not match `int & *'
