how do I compile without fortran support?

Running along fine egcs 1.03 on Digital Unix with Digital cc C compiler
when all of a sudden it tries to build the ./f directory and cc
doesn't know what to do with -W -Wall because digital cc doesn't have
-W switch implemented in it.

Removing all -W\w* from the Makefile in that directory produces an
error message demanding that I use gcc to compile.

./configure --help does not give a list including something like
configure --nofortran
