Yes, a local build was completely successful.  The server is also
2.6.  I did not try disabling NFS3.  I am unaware of the Solaris patch
state of our machines.

Thanks for the tip.  The compilers are up and running well.  Quite
well, indeed!

It may be wise to mention the Solaris problem in the build faq.
