Memory leak?

Hi.
I'm using egcs-2.90.23 980102 (egcs-1.0.1 release) on a Redhat 5.0 + updates
(libg++-2.8.0-1, glibc-2.06). I found that when I try to compile LyX v0.12.0 the
memory requirements are really huge:

gcc -c -g -O2 -I. -I. -I../images -I/usr/X11R6/include lyxfunc.C

USER PID %CPU %MEM SIZE RSS TTY STAT START TIME COMMAND
root 5608 50.4 71.6 89200 22308 p2 R 19:15 3:58 (cc1plus)

Same behaviour if compiled with -O9 optimization.
The same file compiled without optimization

gcc -c -I. -I. -I../images -I/usr/X11R6/include lyxfunc.C

requires about 8MB of RAM to compile.
Is this a normal behaviour?

Best regards

ciao, Roberto
