egcs on linuxppc

I have attempted to compile egcs numerous times, with various configuration settings. Each time, it dies at the same point. This is my setup and the point of failure.
MkLinux DR2.1update6 PowerPC 604e
gcc version 2.7.2.1-ppclinux
configure --with-cpu=604e --enable-haifa
