Assuming that you use the x86-64 builds from http://gfortran.com/download/x86_64/ : Unpack the following file in the "gcc-*" (probably: gcc-4.6) directory. http://gfortran.com/download/x86_64/gcc-infrastructure.tar.xz

Yes, it's a x86_64 machine...

The tar you linked has the needed library! But it still
gives me the same error message!!!!

===
/usr/local/bin/../libexec/gcc/x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu/4.6.2/f951: error while loading shared libraries: libmpc.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
===

Yet, it shows in the /usr/local/lib64 directory (was stored in
a 'lib64' directory in the tar). (Sigh.)

Any ideas? I'll go stamp my feet and cry on the CentOS
forum to see if I get an answer there also...

Thanks. (Sorry to be such a bothersome newbie to you all...)

Walter
