I Can't Get gprof Working With V4.4.0

- Subject: I Can't Get gprof Working With V4.4.0
Is gprof supposed to work with gfortran (4.4.0)? I'm not having any
luck. I've compiled all my source files with '-pg' (plus several
other options). When I run the executable I'm not getting any
gmon.out produced.
I read an old thread that says there are options that are incompatible
with '-pg' but I've not found what they are yet. I'm going to
eliminate all other options to see if that makes a difference: it
doesn't.
