Hi Folks,
Are we still planning to meet on IRC?
I see a lot of energy in the bug reports and list activity today. I presume
everyone is getting excited about new features for gfortran. That is only natural.
However, I think we need a bit of prudence here. I am concerned that people are
losing focus on gfortran as a Fortran 95 compiler and not focusing efforts on
the real bugs, but rather the F2003 stuff.
On the other hand you can't force volunteers to do anything! :) So this will
all fall out where it will. I would ask that everyone working on enhancements
pick out two or three of the real bugs, within abilities of course, and work
those along with the fun stuff.
I am not being too proud here. I am plowing into ice-on-invalid stuff and it
does not come easy or fun for me at all. And, there is not much reward because
people should not be writing invalid code, but nevertheless we should hope that
gfortran be a good tutor for programmers.
Oops, I got carried away. Are we going to have that meeting on IRC.
Cheers,
Jerry
