About gfortran binaries on quatramaran.ens.fr

Hi all,

For quite some time now, I've been providing binaries for gfortran
mainline on some common platforms (x86-linux, x86_64-linux,
x86-freebsd, ppc-darwin, ppc64-linux, mingw32, alpha-linux,
sparc-solaris, x86-solaris, ppc-aix; Paul Thomas regularly uploads his
cygwin binaries there too). The number of unique IP downloads from
Jan. 2006 until now is...

4985 mingw32 (Windows)
3943 i386-linux
1827 ppc-darwin (MacOS X)
1410 Cygwin
1091 x86_64-linux
98 alpha-linux
80 ppc64-linux
4 sparc-solaris
1 x86-solaris
0 i386-freebsd

A few comments:

 * I officially stop building binaries for alpha-linux, ppc64-linux,
solaris and freebsd. The binaries are auto-built by a complex script
mechanism, and a lot of the computers I was doing the builds on went
down for a long period of time recently (mainly the SourceForge
compile farm), and the low number of downloads isn't worth the pain.

 * I no longer have access to x86_64-linux machines, but I will go on
building binaries as I get access onto a new farm, probably before the
end of June.

 * I will try to add functionnality to the Windows builds, if you
have any idea of how to add value to that package, which is a
non-negligeable part of our user-base, please send me a mail.
