G5 1.8Ghz, 10.3.9.
I used the configure script coming with gmp 4.2
and gcc version 3.3 20030304 (Apple Computer, Inc. build 1671)
for the first attempt and
gcc version 4.2.0 20060422 (experimental)
for the second one with the same failure.
