Jakub,

My belief is that this patch is good; especially since it is a prerequisite for gomping fortran. I have been running gfortran with your patch since you posted it, and have seen no problems. The types are indeed all complete; I suspect that if we had a will there are various nasty kludges in gfortran that could be cleaned up with this.....

I am happy to stick my neck out and OK it for trunk.
