Meissner examples - the last one to fall

When I got involved with gfortran, about one year ago, rather more than half of the examples in ftp://ftp.swcp.com/pub/walt/F/meissner_examples failed in, mostly, unpleasant ways.

The penultimate example(#20) is the last to fall. I have posted this bug and a tentative fix as PR24092.

I consider this, together with the clean sweep of NIST and all the Polyhedron tests working, as being something of a milestone. Not only this but the number of PRs has passed its peak and is on the way down.

I just built gcc on Tru64 today for the first time in months. Not only was the build flawless but the compilers behave the same way as on all the other platforms. I built a couple of standard codes with it without any trouble.

I have, for the first time, circulated a note to my colleagues to say that gfortran is available on our Alphas, Windows boxes and the Linices, as a working compiler.

Well done everybody... and thanks.

Paul T
