Yes, gfortran will be the Fortran compiler bundled with GCC
when 4.0.0 hits the streets.  gfortran replaces g77.  I haven't
seen the Release Notes for 4.0.0, but I'm hoping there is a
big disclaimer that gfortran is in heavy development and there
are several known issues.

This is what the Changes, New Features and Fixes page says:

"Fortran A new Fortran front end has replaced the aging GNU Fortran 77 front end. The new front end supports Fortran 90 and Fortran 95. It may not yet be as stable as the old Fortran front end. "

It might save us a lot of fan-mail if "aging" were replaced by "unsupported"...
