Can the patch be applied to both mainline and the 4.0 branch?
It was developed on 4.0. I felt a stab of guilt,... briefly, when I did not
patch a virgin copy of 4.0 and regtest it. I will do so tonight.
Tobi and Bud have expressed an interest in undertaking the review. I
would
be interested in feedback from anybody else that has the time to cast an
eye
over this upgrade and to give it a try.
I'll start reading the patch this weekend.

The three test programs test_nml_x.f* need renaming, and the DejaGnu
directives adding. The rest are as they should be.
