You don't have the developers tools installed


I'll update the Wiki page about MacOSX binaries to include this
information. What is (are) the recommended way(s) to install developer
tools from Apple? CD? Download from Developper Connection?


Downloading from ADC is the recommended way as you get the latest
version.
