You mean '--enable-languages=f77' is no longer supported? or just the frontend
g77 disappeared.

If g77 is removed (in both cases above) - then gfortran should treat
any given code as f95. The extra '-x f95' option doesn't make any
sense - esp the error message:
gfortran-ssa: xx.f: Fortran compiler not installed on this system
